Not all data is stored in a desktop or laptop ‘Hard Disk’ format. Many clients prefer the flexibility and size of using USB flash drives (memory sticks), particularly for storing school/coursework or where data is being accessed and updated on a daily basis.
Whilst USB sticks and SD cards do not have any moving parts, problems can still arise with these devices if they are not used and removed correctly, or if accidental damage or corruption occurs.
Whatever the reason for your data loss, EADR can offer a tailored recovery plan to recover from any manufacturer, make, model or type of storage media. As with hard drive recoveries, a free inspection of your device will take place so we can talk you through the options available to recover your important data.
Data loss from USB sticks or SD/Micro SD cards can be caused by many different things! The most common reasons that we see are from clients who have accidentally deleted/reformatted SD cards, losing photographs. USB sticks are often physically damaged, with bent or snapped USB connectors. We’ve even recovered data after USB’s have been run over by a car!
SD cards and USB sticks can also become corrupt/unreadable due to media degradation.
We have also seen a rise in the number of “fake” USB sticks. These sticks purport to be large capacity devices (2TB) but in reality hold nowhere near the reported amount of data.
Due to the complexity and size of most common removable media sources such as USB flash drives, specialist tools and bespoke techniques are developed and employed by our technicians to ensure that the maximum amount of retrievable data is recovered on your behalf.
For devices which have physically been damaged such as bent/broken USB sticks, our extensive micro-soldering skills and knowledge of flash media technology means we are able to recover data from broken devices that would otherwise be destined for the bin!

PLEASE READ
It is the responsibility of the customer (sender) to ensure that the device being submitted for data recovery is packaged securely and correctly. The best way to do this is to wrap your item in plenty of bubble wrap, and place it in a small, suitably sized cardboard box for a snug fit. The aim is to avoid the drive moving about in transit.
The cardboard box should be plain and unmarked, apart from our address details. If you do use a recycled box, then any previous writing, address labels, bar codes or logos must be completely obscured with packing tape or permanent marker pen. Finally, please ensure that you have filled in and enclosed one of our shipping forms (available on our website). If you do not have access to a printer then we will require an absolute minimum of your name, address and contact details on a sheet of paper inside the box. We cannot accept responsibility for packages received without this basic information included.
EADR can arrange a collection for you using a recognised National Courier Service, however, this is a no frills, next working day service and is chargeable at £25. This offers tracking only and no liability insurance whatsoever, and you fully understand that if accepted will be undertaken completely at your own risk. EADR Ltd cannot and will not accept any responsibility or liability should your item be lost or damaged whilst in transit.
